I wonder how in the world you haven't been scouted

TechnicaGmd responds:

no
idea

Nothing much I can say, except for a few things:

Trumpets need to be a little echo-y, it's just a little thing. and make them a little less loud.

I really loved the structure on this one. However, a little melody change would be a little nice in the middle/end of the song.

Other than that everything is good!

JonMan94 responds:

That might be the delay/chorus I added on that track, but even then I've been listening to it today over other sources (In my car, from my phone, laptop, etc...) and I'm already going to be reworking the mix from the ground up (for the second time) because I've noticed some issues that I'm not happy with:

1) Kick and Snare are buried in mix, cymbals are too loud and harsh

2) hi-hats are buried, ride cymbal is annoyingly cutting from open speaker sources (I noticed this in my car especially)

3) Guitars are slightly too quiet, but the bass is fine, just needs to be slightly louder

4) Trumpet Lead and Brass Leads are washy, "blurred" in mix (no definition between notes).

I am planning to do the 3rd Mission theme (The Midnight Wandering) as well, and since Youtube is my primary release area, I'm definitely going to be holding back on releasing them until I can get the mix right.

Thanks for the scouting and the review! Your're the first one who's ever done this.

This is by far your best piece

Keep going down this road. Try not to make everything the same. Don't repeat a lot.

And I may use one of your songs in GD

NekrosisGD responds:

Thanks a lot man.
And yes you can use my songs in gd.

Basically a revised Stereo Madness... Okie

5TanLey responds:

believe me or not, I have never heard the song before :

Repitition is gonna be your bitch, I know. In the beginning, too much of it. Key changes were pretty good. Try to factor in some good bass as well. Other than that, pretty awesome!

DJ-Doty responds:

Thanks for the info! I'll keep that in mind. :)

Melodies: The chord progression for this is very... interesting. And, sorry to say, but I don't think that last chord doesn't fit right. If that's on purpose, than my bad. The melody is creepy, yet.. relaxing. It's very weird. Also, try sidechaining the drums and making them quieter, the snare is too loud, and so is the ride/hi-hat.
Mixing: As I said, the drums need fixing. Those pads need to be just a tad quieter when the melody kicks in. And it's very quiet on the entire mix. maybe try to spice it up with a little more bass?
Sound: This... is where you did well. Those pads are just amazing! The snare could use some work, but other than that, you're pretty down on the sounds!

Melodies: .7/1
Mixing: .2/1
Sound:. .9/1
Total Rating: 3 stars.

I am more of a structual person, if you may not have noticed :3
I absolutely love the forest feeling I get from this, and if that's what you were going for congrats!
The beginning is amazing, setting the atmosphere and tone of the piece, with that immense reverb and calming synths, then adding some of that background ear candy. Then the melodies kick in, and it just gets better. I hear a slight tempo change in the buildup, and then the drop is just amazing. Like, have no words for it. Seriously. The key changes are a little weird, but pretty easy. The melody instruments are also a little too video-game like, but that's personal preference. Then the ending is just PERFECT. Ending with what we began with. Amazing, indeed.

I think the only gripe I have for this one is that some of the mixing IS a little whack, with the melody maybe being a little too loud. But other than that, good job!
Mixing: 3/5
Melodies: 5/5
Structure: 5/5

Final Result: 4.5/5

Onefin responds:

Thanks for the R4R! I always get skipped, so I'm used to it.

Forest is not what I was going for, but I don't really know what I was going for XD I like to leave my tracks up to interpretation most of the time

I'm addicted to reverb, and don't plan to go to rehab anytime soon. That's the end of it lol

I like key changes, but they never end up being good. Maybe I just suck. I don't know

I don't know about you, but I like thin, lean instruments, so sometimes that ends up in me going complete chiptune on some synths. So yeah

I suck at mixing lol I tried to fix it and Gragon helped me but in the end it just takes more practice

Classic heavy metal!
The squeals kinda remind me of Raining Blood! This is definitely one of the better heavy metal songs I've ever heard. A melodic feel to it, and I also loved what you did with the calm melodies in the middle. and the buildup to the end was unique! The drums are everywhere, and it so just reminds me of classic and great heavy metal.

Nice job to you sir! I honestly could not find a single thing wrong with this!

THEBUTTERMILKBANDITS responds:

Wow, I really appreciate it! Thanks

I want this to be in an animation as a chase scene SO BADLY :P
Pretty good, as always!

The bass sounds pretty good, don't know what he's talking about.

This Beat has me banging my head!

Definitely a nice retro song, has all the nice beat changes and randomness, I could definitely see this being in a game like Duck Hunt or something.

Style: Overall nailed it with the style, definitely has the old and nice retro drums and sounds. The trasition where the drums could be a little better, but other than that, it's pretty good! The drums near the end get pretty crazy, but I likey.
STYLE SCORE: 4.5/5

Mixing: Now normally for a song this would be the worst mixing on Earth, but somehow this actually really fits the style! So, hurray! Not too horrible for what you were going for. Although, drums could be a little quieter, but that's me. and some more Synths would also be nice, like an added bassline.
MIXING SCORE: 4/5

Composition: Again, would be horrible if not for the style. So, the composition, it actually is pretty nice, though, again, a bassline would be nice. Not really much to say here...
COMPOSITION SCORE: 4.5/5

OVERALL SCORE: 4.3/5!

This song is NOT worth the 2-star rating...

NekrosisGD responds:

Thank you so much for the review! You are right about the bassline I could've used.
Drums are probably louder than I thought they were...
I'm glad you enjoyed it! I usually don't get many people who like this :p

A crazy musician with talents of a, well, talented person. Creating audio from all ranges of such, I love making music. I also like GD, so I'll create short, but rhythmic songs so levels can be created. That's pretty much it.
